Chile stretches from the extraordinary landscapes of the Atacama Desert in the North to the dramatic glaciers and granite towers of Patagonia in the South. Our suggested itinerary combines these extremes of Chile with a few days in Santiago.
Highlights: Santiago – Atacama Desert – Torres del Paine
We can extend this itinerary to include the Salt Flats of Uyuni in Bolivia, the Chilean Lake District, a visit to Easter Island or through the Beagle Channel to Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.
You will be met on arrival and driven to your hotel. The Chilean capital is a modern metropolis with a backdrop of the Andes. The city has around 30 museums and about 40 art galleries. The Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art is particularly noteworthy. Barrio Brasil is a lively area of bars, restaurants and cafes.
City tour with excursion to Concha y Toro vineyard
Morning tour of the historic centre of Santiago. In the afternoon travel to the Maipo valley for a tour of the vineyard which was founded in 1883. Today Concha y Toro is the largest exporter of Chilean wine.
Torres del Paine
Fly to Punta Arenas where you will be met and driven to your hotel in Torres del Paine National Park. The hotel offers a comprehensive range of half day or full day activities such as hiking, riding and cycling. Full board including soft drinks and house wines at the hotel.
Punta Arenas - Santiago - Vina del Mar
Transfer to Punta Arenas airport in time for your flight to Santiago. You will be met on arrival and driven to your hotel in the garden city of Vina del Mar on the Pacific coast.
Half day tour to Isla Negra, north of Cartagena, which was home to Chile's Nobel prize-winning poet, politician, diplomat and sometime exile, Pablo Neruda. His house overlooking the sea is now open to the public. Entrance included.
Fly to Calama and transfer to your hotel about a mile outside San Pedro de Atacama. A full choice of activities and excursions are included during your stay. The hot springs, Moon Valley and Flamingo Reserve in the Atacama Salt Falts should not be missed. If you are interested in stargazing a visit to the Ahlarkapin Observatory is a must.
Fly to Santiago for your last night in Chile. You will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel.
Transfer to the airport in time to check-in for your transatlantic flight home.
